Sunti Kumjim

Senior Vice President, Regional Development Partner - West

Sunti was raised in California and decided to stick close to the ocean by enlisting in the Navy. Following his serviceas an officer of assault craft unit 5 at Camp Pendleton, Sunti was drawn to real estate, and especially residential real estate, due to a desire to build communities that provide quality homes for his fellow Californians.   

As a Senior Vice President and Regional Development Partner for JPI’s Western Region, Sunti is responsible for oversight of the development process for multifamily projects in the Southern California market including due diligence, capitalization, entitlement, design, and construction completion. 

Prior to JPI, Sunti worked with MBK Real Estate in Irvine, California for eight years as Senior Vice President of multifamily and industrial development, overseeing acquisitions and due diligence through project occupancy. This included leading all entitlements, product design, permits, project buy-outs, and construction oversight. He also led project management and purchasing activities for both multifamily and for-sale projects throughout California, with product types ranging from high-density infill apartment homes to single-family detached homes. Before MBK, Sunti held several leadership roles with Shea Homes, Gilbane Building Company, and Standard Pacific Homes.  

Sunti earned his Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and his MBA from Pepperdine University.  

Sunti’s professional designations include board member and president of the Building Industry Association of Orange County; licensed general building contractor; and LEED-AP.  

He lives in Rancho Mission Viejo, Calif. with his wife Erin and their two children. When not in the office, he enjoys surfing, outdoor activities, and camping with his family.
