Vice President, Area Construction Projects - Central

Richard Deapen headshot

Richard had an opportunity to test-drive construction during high school and college when he worked for his father’s underground utility company and knew it was the career for him.

As Vice President of Area Construction Projects, Richard is responsible for leading all aspects of the construction process for assigned projects within JPI’s Central Region portfolio. Richard has been in the construction industry for more than 30 years with experience in various disciplines and functioning in capacities from field level to executive level.

After graduating from New Mexico State University in 1995, Richard began his multifamily construction career with a design-build general contractor specializing in military housing. During this time, he completed numerous projects on and off military installations throughout the contiguous United States.

Most recently, Richard spent fifteen years with a nationally recognized multifamily owner-developer in the Texas market building Class A garden, wrap, and podium-style projects. His overall multifamily experience includes more than 6,000 units of new construction and 2,400 units of rehab.

When he’s not at work, Richard loves stream fishing (specifically back-country pack-in locations and saltwater), and being a super fan to his two children, Jack and Janie.
