Alex Virtue

Alex Virtue is a seasoned real estate capital markets executive, bringing over 25 years of institutional capital raising and advisory experience to JPI’s Capital Markets team. As Managing Director, Capital Markets, Alex focuses on expanding JPI’s institutional and private capital equity relationships, including capital formation, joint ventures, financings, and strategic initiatives.

His professional experience includes significant capital raising and transaction execution, both as a principal and as an advisor to public and private real estate, lodging, and leisure companies. His expertise spans public equity/IPO and debt offerings, M&A transactions, portfolio sales, and syndicated debt offerings.

Most recently, prior to joining JPI, Mr. Virtue was a Managing Director at Zelman & Associates, a FINRA-licensed subsidiary of Walker & Dunlop, where he focused on capital markets advisory and capital raising, primarily within the multifamily and housing sectors.

Previously, Alex was a Senior Vice President at Xebec Realty, a national industrial developer and asset manager, where he established a $425 million build-to-core joint venture with a global real estate asset manager and raised over $300 million in debt and equity for development and land acquisition projects.

Alex began his capital markets career with Merrill Lynch as a member of the firm’s Real Estate Investment Banking group in New York. He has also held senior investment banking positions at Eastdil Secured / Wells Fargo Securities and CBRE Capital Advisors.

Alex holds an MBA degree with concentrations in Real Estate and Finance from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in political science from the University of California, San Diego. Additionally, he is a licensed real estate broker in the State of California and holds FINRA 7, 24, 63, 79 and 99 licenses (currently inactive) and is a member of PREA and IREI.
